Common Tide is a fictional nonprofit we created to show how Popcode works. On a real card, your own address, like commontide.org/givingtuesday, simply forwards to your Popcode URL.
What you get
- A piece designed for Giving Tuesday. Or any day.
An appeal, gala program or thank-you card, designed by a team with 20 years of nonprofit work and built to be scanned as well as read.
- Your own story page.
Your logo, your colors, and an intro in your words. Donors feel they're visiting you, not a tech platform.
- Several voices in one piece.
Your executive director, a researcher in the field, a volunteer, a longtime donor: each photo tells its own story, and your dashboard shows which one moved donors most.
- Buttons that turn feeling into action.
Donate, volunteer, subscribe, or share, one tap away at the moment a donor is most moved.
- Your own web address.
Print yourorg.org/story on the piece so your name leads.
- An impact dashboard.
See how many donors watched, which stories they chose, and how many tapped donate. For the first time, you'll know whether your print worked.

Why it works
- A photo shows the work; a voice makes donors feel it.
- It brings the field to the donor's kitchen table.
- Print finally becomes measurable.
- One video serves your appeal, your gala, your thank-you cards, and your social posts.
You’ve never known if your print worked. Now you will.
Every scan, every story watched, every donate tap, in a dashboard you can put in front of your board.
Where to use it
Anything you print can play. The same story works on every piece.

Questions
No. Popcode works right in the phone's web browser, so there's nothing to download, no account to create, and no password to remember. Donors type a short web address printed on your piece, and the story is ready to play.
We designed it with them in mind. Your printed piece includes short, clear instructions: type the address, then point the phone at the photo. If a donor can open a website on their phone, they can watch your story, and many find it delightful precisely because it's so simple.
That's very common, and we'll help you get there. We'll send a simple script and ideas for what to capture, and we can help you pull together footage you may already have from site visits or events. A heartfelt video shot on a phone often works better than a polished production, because it feels authentic and personal.
Your pieces will keep playing through at least the end of 2027, so donors who hold on to your appeal or annual report can come back to it long after it arrives. We'll talk with you well ahead of time about keeping stories live beyond that.
Yes. Your web person adds a simple redirect, for example from yourorg.org/story to your Popcode page, and it usually takes about ten minutes. Donors see your name on the printed piece, which builds trust and keeps the focus on your organization.
No. Popcode doesn't collect names, emails, or any personal information from donors. We count views, how much of each story was watched, and button taps, all anonymously. Gift totals come from your own donation platform, so your donor data stays with you.
About four weeks from receiving your video, including design, setup, and your review. If you're working toward a deadline like Giving Tuesday, tell us early and we'll build the schedule backwards from your mail date.
Your piece still works as a beautiful printed appeal on its own. The video is an added layer for donors who want it, never a barrier to giving.
Absolutely. The videos are yours, so share them in emails, on social media, at events, and on your website. One good story can carry your whole campaign.
